General Description

Xilinx® UltraScale™architecture combines the high performance requirements with a reduction of total power consumption through a lot of innovative tehnological improvements, needed in multiple high-demand products and industries. There are 3 Ultrascale families, Kintex FPGAa, Virtex FPGAs and Zynq MPSoCs. Kintex and Virtex are high-performance FPGAs families with different approaches as power optimization, performance, system capacity and cost. Zynq devices will be detail in depth in the next section.

Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC

Zynq MPSoCs provides a combination between the Ultrascale arquitecture and the high capacity of the ARM processors, through one ARM v8-based Cortex A53 64-bit application processor and a ARM Cortex-R5 real-time processor. Xilinx provides next-generation programmable engines, security, reliability and scalability from 32 to 64 bits. This architecture is the first one of its kind, and comes to accelerate and optimize processes, power requirements, programmable acceleration, I/O and memory management for any kind of applications. There are there variants, CG, EG, EV. CG provides dual application processor, EG provides quad application processor and GPU, and EV comes with video codec, creating a wide range of possibilities to explore.
