Having regard to the state of the art in the embedded systems industry, RidgeRun is constantly working on incorporating the latest platforms to the list of supported products, and hence it is now time for NXP's iMX 8 series applications processors. The i.MX8 series of applications processors is a multi-core platform that, as it also happened in the past, comes in several flavors: single, dual, and quad-core families based on the ARM Cortex architecture.

The following pages provide a number of key topics to harness the processing power and features that the i.MX8 processor series has to offer.

  • SOC Overview section that enumerates some of the specs/product families.
  • Carrier Boards section that summarizes the several carrier board options for the i.MX8.
  • i.MX6 vs i.MX8 section that presents a comparison between the i.MX6 Quad/i.MX6 Dual, i.MX7 Dual and i.MX8 Dual/i.MX8 QuadLite/i.MX8 Quad platforms.
