NXP supports two software operating systems:

• Embedded Linux
• Embedded Android

Embedded Linux

Provides a BSP (i.MX Linux Board Support Packages) with a collection of binary files, source code and support files used to boot an Embedded Linux image on the i.MX8 EVK . Latest iMX8 BSP can be downloaded from Linux download page

Following are the BSP available for the iMX8:

• L4.9.88_2.0.0_MX8MQ

NXP chose Yocto Project as the sample framework to build Linux custom images. For more details go to Yocto support

Embedded Android

Provides an IMX Android release to be able to boot Embedded Android on the IMX8 EVK. Offer two packages:

• the Android demo that includes prebuilt images with NXP extended features for the IMX8MQ EVK board.
• and the Android source code that provides i.MX Android proprietary source code.

Latest packages can be downloaded from Android Demo and Android Source.
